Bruces in Australia
.
James Bruce, our convict ancestor, had already married Sarah Ann Burney in London, and she arrived in NSW sometime between 1831 and 1833. His son Robert, my great grandfather was born at Clear Creek, Kelso (near Bathurst) in July, 1838 and died in Belmore, Sydney in 1930. His siblings were:
- James Bruce, b Stepney, London in 1822, died NSW? 1869
- Henry Bruce, born Blackheath, London 1831, died 1890 in Dubbo NSW
- Ellenor Ann Frances Bruce, born White Rock, Kelso, April 1834, died 1920
- George William Bruce, born Dockairne, Kelso NSW, May 1836, died 1921
- John Bruce, born Whinburndale, 1840
- Frances Ratcliffe (Schofield) Bruce, born 1848, Clear Creek, Kelso.
Sarah Ann Burney left the marriage at some stage, and took up with George Schofield of Bogo-Bogolong Station, Grenfell, NSW. Some of her children took the name Schofield. She was buried in 1877 at Grenfell as Sarah Ann Schofield.
