My Bruce ancestors

My great great grandfather James Bruce (1791-1874) arrived in Australia as a convict on the Surry in 1831.

James Bruce, our convict ancestor, had already married Sarah Ann Burney in London, and she arrived in NSW sometime between 1831 and 1833. His son Robert, my great grandfather was born at Clear Creek, Kelso (near Bathurst) in July, 1838 and died in Belmore, Sydney in 1930. His siblings were:

Sarah Ann Burney left the marriage at some stage, and took up with George Schofield of Bogo-Bogolong Station, Grenfell, NSW. Some of her children took the name Schofield. She was buried in 1877 at Grenfell as Sarah Ann Schofield.
