Middleton family
There is no record of the marriage between Sarah Middleton and Jshua's father Isaac Moxon. We know that they were living in Grenoside, near Sheffield when Joshua was born. He adopted Middleton as his middle name later in life. He was not registered as Middleton at birth.
Sarah stated in the 1851 and 1861 census' that she was born at Hunshelf, Yorkshire. She worked as a laundress after her husband died, and was living with her son John in 1861. Joshua was working as a stonemason in Manchester at that time. A daughter Sarah Ann, aged 2 was documented on the 1841 census. There is no further mention of Sarah Ann.
